Bill Galer serves as a Clinical Director at Beaches Recovery Services, LLC. Bill was first licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 1998 in California where he worked in several outpatient and residential programs treating adolescents and adults. He maintained a private practice for several years before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida in 2004. Bill continued to work in the mental health and addictions field as the Program Director for The Players Championship Village, a rehab and substance abuse treatment center located in Jacksonville.

In 2008, Bill began working for The Professionals Resource Network (PRN), which serves as a Consultant to the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) in the state of Florida, on matters relating to practitioner impairment. Here, he served as a clinical case manager; helping to rehabilitate and then monitor professionals in the healthcare field as they received treatment and then returned to practice. In 2012, Bill returned to direct service as the Program Coordinator for UF Health Florida Recovery Center Jacksonville an intensive outpatient addictions program. He has taught numerous trainings, workshops and seminars for healthcare professionals, teachers, school counselors, and parents.

Bill believes strongly that when treating individuals struggling with substance use disorders, it is essential to work from a holistic approach, focusing on the mind, body and spirit. On a personal note, Bill stays busy with his lovely wife and two beautiful daughters. He is also an avid sports fan and golf enthusiast.

Bill is a graduate of San Diego State University where he earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counseling.

Spencer Finchem is a therapist with Beaches Recovery, LLC. After struggling with the powerful disease of addiction, Spencer has been in recovery and has been helping others maintain a sober and healthy lifestyle. He believes all clients can engage in a life of recovery with encouragement, support, and knowledge of the disease of addiction.

His motivation for working in this field is to help others positively change their lives, as others once helped him. In his free time, Spencer enjoys golf, running, and competitive online gaming.

Spencer Finchem earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Florida.

Ashley Harrold is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is experienced in treating individuals struggling with chemical dependency and a wide variety of mental health diagnoses including depression, anxiety and grief. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient counseling settings as well as crisis management. Ashley has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and implements these techniques into her therapy sessions.

Ashley strongly believes in treating addiction through a multi-faceted clinical approach that incorporates treatment of the individual and family. She utilizes a variety of techniques and modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy emphasizing rapport, honesty, consistency and compassion within her treatment. On a personal note, Ashley enjoys crafting, sports, her two dogs and spending time with family and close friends.

Ashley obtained her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of South Florida and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.

Cassandra Hoffer is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed in Florida. She was employed as an RN in the behavioral health field and worked in a variety of both inpatient and outpatient settings with adults, adolescents, and children challenged with mental health issues from 1989-2009. Since becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist, Cassandra has expanded her professional experience working with clients with emotional, chemical dependency, behavioral, and family difficulties.

Christine employs a number of therapeutic approaches when working with clients including Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and draws on her many years of behavioral health and wellness information when working with her clients. Married with two adult sons and a wonderful daughter in law, her family has been blessed with the addition of a new grandchild. After a lifetime of living in the north, Cassandra and her husband are happy to have relocated to sunny Florida and enjoy being outdoors and at the beach whenever possible.

Cassandra has a Bachelor’s degree from National Louis University in Applied Behavioral Science and has earned a Master’s Degree in Family Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University.

Christine Kennedy is a registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern and Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist in the state of Florida. She has experience in helping clients grapple with the effects of multiple diagnoses which include but are not limited to, substance abuse, chemical and behavioral addictions, trauma, depression, suicidal ideations, self-harm, eating disorders, sexual addictions, anxiety, and physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.

Trained to work with trauma survivors, Christina has worked with all age groups. She uses a multitude of systems techniques to help individuals feel safe and secure within themselves and helps clients identify shame messages that get them stuck in addiction patterns. Christine works to create a safe environment for her clients that welcomes vulnerability and fosters hope. She is passionate about helping clients identify the root emotions underneath their addiction in order to help them become the person they always wanted to be.

Christine earned an undergraduate degree in Youth and Family Ministries, and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Licensed Professional Counseling.

Michelle K. Leon is a therapist with Beaches Recovery, LLC. She specializes in posttraumatic stress disorder, moral injury, posttraumatic growth, human sexuality including LGBTQ issues, suicidality, self-injurious behaviors, as well as shame reduction. Michelle works from a Relational Cultural Theoretical framework while utilizing a range of therapeutic modalities including but not limited to Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

Before joining the Beaches Recovery team, Michelle has spent her career working with Veterans, Individuals with Severe Mental Illness, the LGBTQ population, and individuals struggling with Addiction. She believes in a mind, body, and spirit approach that empowers and enhances one’s self-worth and self-efficacy while addressing issues that may be prohibiting individuals from reaching their true potential in life.

Michelle K. Leon holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology & a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from The State University of New York at Brockport. She is a National Certified Counselor and is working towards becoming certified as a Board Certified Clinical Sexologist & Masters Certified Addiction Professional.

Cathy McLoone is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. After earning her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2009, Cathy McLoone went on to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in 2013.  Her work in behavioral health and substance abuse for adults began in 2007.

Since then, she has worked in private practice as well as inpatient and outpatient services.  Cathy utilizes a variety of techniques and modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy and motivational interviewing. Through these techniques, she emphasizes the need to meet the client “where they are” in terms of accepting that they have an addiction and what changes they are willing to make in order to address it. Before joining the Beaches Recovery team, Christina provided mental health and addictions counseling services in various outpatient and inpatient settings, including working with the homeless population in the Jackson Beach area. Christina believes in using evidenced-based practices and interventions. On a personal note, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, working out, playing sports, practicing her faith, and is also a musician.

Dylan Smith is the Director of Admissions at Beaches Recovery, LLC. Dylan’s passion for his work at Beaches stems from his desire to see men and women of all ages transition from a life of substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues to long-term recovery and happiness in sobriety. His firsthand understanding of the damaging effects of drug and alcohol addiction has further fueled his commitment to this work.

Before beginning his career in recovery, Dylan held multiple management positions in the golf industry. These included managing operations for entire golf clubs and coordinating hundreds of golf tournaments. He has also taught golf to players of all levels.

Dylan obtained a degree in Professional Golf (Business) Management from Arizona State University.

Her knowledge of the programs offered at Beaches ensures that each client who enters the program will have services that meet their individual need for medical, clinical, housing, and activities that will help them on their road to healing and a life full of hope.

Sara is CPR certified and enjoys learning new things and finding ways to contribute to her own personal growth as well as that of others. She also enjoys all things artistic. These include photography and tattoo artistry.

Lawrence Traynor (Laurie) is an admissions specialist at Beaches Recovery. His expert knowledge of staff and services offered at Beaches ensures that each client who enters the program will be matched with the clinical, medical, housing, and activities needed to help them on their unique journey of recovery.

Laurie is a member of NEFCADA (Northeast Florida Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse). With more than 24 years of personal recovery, he is committed to the belief that recovery efforts can and do make a positive difference in people’s lives. On a personal note, Laurie resides in Jacksonville Beach and enjoys meditating on the beach while taking in many of the awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets that the area offers.

Laurie earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Psychology from the American University College of Arts and Sciences in Washington, D.C.

Chris Bailey is the Director of Intake at Beaches Recovery. He is a well-versed healthcare professional with more than 10 years of clinical experience. Chris has provided both mental health and substance abuse related services in an array of environments, to include outpatient, correctional, psychosocial rehabilitative, partial hospitalization, and inpatient settings. Chris also possesses considerable experience in strategic planning and organizational development.

Vicki has been working in the mental health and substance abuse field since 1986. She has worked in both direct care and administrative positions in the states of Indiana and Florida. On a personal note, Vickie is our resident rock and roll connoisseur and has a passion for professional football.

As a Case Manager, Sean is among the first people that our clients meet upon arrival. He works with individuals to create their very own road map to recovery, introduces them to our highly qualified team of experts, and continues to work them with right through completion of their recovery program. Case managers often serve as a liaison between clients and families, as well.

Sean began his career in mental health and addiction recovery working with inmates in correctional facilities in Montana. He continued his work in both inpatient and outpatient settings at mental health and addiction recovery centers before joining the Beaches team. Sean believes clients deserve all the support and care that we provide at Beaches Recovery. He also believes that providing guidance on a daily basis that is focused on helping a client become their best selves is key to helping our clients regain a life that is full of hope.

As a Case Manager, Sharon is among the first people that our clients meet upon arrival. Sharon has been working in the field of addictions since 2000. Her roles have included intake worker in both a treatment and methadone center setting as well as support staff in a detox center. Sharon also worked as a drug court counselor, conducting groups and preparing reports for the court.

Sharon states “There is such a heartwarming satisfaction that comes from watching an individual fully grasp the concept of recovery and living a new healthy lifestyle.” On a personal note, as a local to the area, Sharon enjoys taking full advantage of Florida’s beach life.

Sharon earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services with a concentration in Addiction Studies from Springfield College and a Medical Assistant Certificate from Concorde Vocational School of Medical Assisting.

Dr. Marcus De Carvalho is the Medical Director for Beaches Recovery. A board-certified physician and diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Inc., he possesses a wealth of knowledge in psychiatric and addiction medicine. Dr. De Carvalho is an expert in a number of disorders and diseases and is often consulted by local news outlets concerning issues of addiction and psychiatric health matters. Passionate about addiction medicine, he believes that every person deserves the opportunity to regain a life that allows them to become a functional member of society and to lead a happy, fulfilling life.

Kim Davis is the Human Resource Director for Beaches Recovery, LLC. Experienced in providing excellent client care, and possessing a deep knowledge of the recovery industry, Kim handles all of the details that keep Beaches running efficiently and moving forward as an industry leader.

Originally from Tennessee, she now calls Jacksonville her home. Kim truly believes that all things are possible with recovery. “Beaches provides our clients with the tools that they need to live a healthy and productive life full of hope for the future. It’s very fulfilling to see the work that our team does to make that happen. I’m honored to be a part of it.” On a personal note, in her free time, Kim enjoys playing tennis, going to the gym, and spending time with family.

Scott Cretul is the Outdoor Therapeutic Adventure Program Director at Beaches Recovery. He brings his enthusiasm for the outdoors combined with his dedication to the recovery field to this unique program. As a part Beaches’ holistic approach to healing, clients enjoy trips to the beach and wilderness for recreational activities including surfing, fishing, hiking, and camping. These unique opportunities offer new ways to have fun and explore a healthy and active lifestyle.

Scott’s goal is to get our clients to engage in new experiences and to find something they can become passionate about.  “Once they catch their first fish, they are truly excited and are immediately asking when they can come back and do it again.  Florida is one of the best locations in the world for fishing.  I love to teach our clients to surf and to stand up on a wave for their first time. In these moments, I catch glimpses of real smiles, that reflect true happiness and accomplishment. When I take a group out camping, it gives them a chance to connect with the wilderness.  There is a healing power in nature. I’m committed to helping our clients see the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle in mind, body, and spirit.” On a personal note, in his free time, Scott enjoys surfing, fishing, and water photography and is active in the recovery community.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from the University of North Florida.  He is a certified Wilderness First Responder and Clinical First Responder.  He holds American Red Cross certifications in CPR and Water Rescue.

Kyle is a founder and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Beaches Recovery Services, LLC and Founder of Pinnacle Peak Recovery, LLC & Crestview Recovery Services, LLC. After overcoming his own personal struggles with addiction, Kyle became passionate about helping others with the disease.  

His commitment to excellence in treatment, holistic care that heals the body, mind, and spirit, along with, the implementation of evidenced-based treatments earned him and his Beaches Recovery staff the coveted JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) accreditation within just one year of opening Beaches Recovery Services, LLC. 

Kyle has been working full-time in the rehabilitation treatment field since 2006. His previous work experience includes management positions at well-known treatment facilities in both Arizona and California.    

Kyle attended Centaur College in California, where he became a Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS). From there, he went on to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) with the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAADAC).

John (Jay) Hanan is a co-founder of Beaches Recovery, LLC, Pinnacle Peak Recovery, LLC and Crestview Recovery Services, LLC. He has been active in the recovery field since 1988 and has served as Chairman of the Board of the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence for the State of California (1991-1994).  

Prior to founding these organizations, John enjoyed a 35-year successful career in real estate development and management for multifamily and large commercial developments. Jay brings a combination of passion for the recovery field and considerable business experience to his role at Beaches Recovery.   

John describes helping others to recover from alcohol and drug abuse and the associated underlying behavioral issues as “by far the most gratifying time in my career.” During his free time, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife and family.  He also enjoys traveling, reading, and engaging in fitness activities.

John is a graduate of the University of North Carolina (Moorehead Scholar) and the University of Chicago School of Business where he received his Masters of Business Administration.

James W. Griffis serves as the Senior Operating Officer of Beaches Recovery Services, LLC; Pinnacle Peak Recovery, LLC and Crestview Recovery Services, LLC overseeing all aspects of operations. He is a Healthcare Executive with over 33 years of experience in the field of Addiction and Mental Health.

Jim began his career in the Navy, serving honorably for 22 years. During his career, he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Behavioral Science, with a minor in Chemical Dependency, as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Behavioral Health Psychology. His last 5 years of Naval Service was as a Certified Alcohol Treatment Specialist. Following Navy retirement, he has served in various executive positions, including a number of CEO positions of various national treatment organizations.

For the past 10 years, he has worked as a consultant to many treatment organizations around the country, as well as Belize and Mexico.  He was instrumental in the development of The Refuge Treatment Center in Central Florida and consulted there from 2005 to 2008 as Operations Director.

Jim holds both a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Behavioral Science, with a minor in Chemical Dependency, as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Behavioral Health Psychology from National University.

Patricia Yost is the Executive Director at Beaches Recovery, LLC.  Her extensive experience includes Director of Operations at Beaches Recovery, sober living house management and client services. Patricia has been with Beaches since it’s inception and uses her exceptional organization, planning, and people skills to oversee all aspects of operations at Beaches.    

“The thing I love about working here is watching the changes in our clients as they grow in sobriety,” said Patricia. She also finds joy in working with the variety of dedicated  staff and others who come together on behalf of our clients. Ms. Yost is an invaluable asset to our Beaches Team of remarkable talent.

Patricia earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders (Speech Pathology & Audiology) with an undeclared minor in Psychology. She has continued graduate studies in this area and still enjoys Seminole Football.

Hallie Marcotte is the Chief Operating Officer for Beaches Recovery, LLC. She is involved in all aspects of the business as it continues to grow and become recognized as a leader in the field of addiction treatment. Hallie joined Beaches after retiring from a career as an administrator in the field of special education for one of the largest school districts in the country. Her work at Beaches Recovery allows her to combine her expertise in organizational management with her passion for helping others.

What I enjoy most about my job, is the opportunity to share with others, the life-saving work that Beaches is doing in the field of addiction recovery. I love seeing clients who have gone through the program leading happy and productive lives filled with hope.”

Hallie obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education, from Southwest Texas State University, as well as a Master of Arts, in Special Education from the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque.
