Because of the way the Affordable Care Act changed the way insurance companies treat behavioral care, most PPO insurance providers are now required by law to make sure its PPO insurance covers drug rehab. They must treat addiction care as they would any other type of medical treatment. If you’re a member of a PPO, you can consult with prospective drug rehab facilities to verify whether they’re part of your network.
PPO stands for “preferred provider option network.” Under this kind of insurance plan, members are required to seek medical, dental or behavioral services from healthcare providers that operate within their specific network. In a case where PPO insurance covers drug rehab, the policyholder or member would be required to receive treatment from drug and alcohol rehab centers that are contracted to provide such services on the network’s behalf. It should be noted that PPO insurance covers drug rehab at basically the same rate as doctor and hospital visits, which is approximately 60–70%. The difference is paid out-of-pocket.
For the most part, a reputable drug rehab facility will contract to provide addiction treatment services through the most prominent PPO plans. With PPO insurance covering at least a portion of drug rehab costs, the providers prefer dealing with rehab facilities that offer cost-effective treatment alternatives. If you’re a PPO member with a popular insurance provider, there’s a good chance you can seek quality intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization treatment programs through a professional addiction treatment facility like Beaches Recovery. By providing tailored treatment plans, we can offer you affordable therapy and counseling designed to support recovery.
