What makes Beaches Recovery different from other treatment centers? It is our individualized approach to clients. We want to get treatment right the first time.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to recovery and a life lived in sobriety. Therefore, what works for one person may not work for all. At Beaches we offer clients options to meet their needs. Customized recovery is successful recovery.
Our doctors and clinicians create individualized treatment plans for each client. An integral part of their plan includes participation in recovery groups. Research has shown that being a part of community is key to continued sobriety and lifelong recovery. Recovery groups engage peer networks and offer ongoing support after client’s discharge to their home community.
A key difference at Beaches is that we offer a variety of groups for clients to choose from and participate in. Clients are also encouraged to choose the groups that work best for them.
Of course when most people think about recovery groups, Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are usually top-of-mind. Beaches offers gender-specific AA and NA groups at our facility and in the community, as well as other groups that most closely meet the needs of our clients. We offer recovery groups in our clinical building and take clients to groups in the Jacksonville community.
Because of our holistic and evidence-based approach to recovery, we offer a variety of groups. Many clients end up participating in three or four groups. From traditional 12-Step to mindfulness or Christian-based group, we provide Beaches’ clients with choices.
An evidence-based group approach, SMART Recovery, teaches tools for addiction recovery based on the latest scientific research. Self Management for Addiction Recovery uses clinical as well as cognitive skills as strategies for recovery. We have a Certified SMART Recovery Facilitator for the Men’s and Women’s meetings.
SMART Recovery is based upon four points:
The SMART Recovery approach teaches self-empowerment as well as self-reliance. Its meetings are educational, supportive and also include open discussions. It encourages clients to recover from addiction and alcohol abuse and live satisfying lives.
The Refuge Recovery group is also a part of Beaches’ 8-Week Mindfulness Elective Track. This mindfulness-based addiction recovery community practices and utilizes Buddhist philosophy as the foundation of the recovery process.
Current science behind mindfulness practices shows that it can prevent relapse, and incorporated in a group setting, it builds coping skills and also tools for recovery. However, Refuge Recovery does not identify with the traditional western approach to recovery. Its methods alleviates suffering through meditation and mindfulness living. Clients become aware of patterns and learn healthy coping mechanisms.
Four Truths form the foundation of Refuge Recovery:
Refuge Recovery group also meets at the Beaches facility. It is led by a mindfulness trained therapist who leads the meditation and group discussion. It is an open meeting, and many alumni attend, along with family and friends of clients.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. Beaches offers the curriculum internally, and we also take clients into the community for the group meetings.
Celebrate Recovery has its foundations firmly established in Biblical truth. The 12 Steps with accompanying Scriptures and the 8 Principles based on the Beatitudes offer participants a clear path of salvation and discipleship; bringing hope, freedom, sobriety, healing, as well as the opportunity to give back one day at a time through our one and only true Higher Power, Jesus Christ. The 12 Steps and the 8 Principles work seamlessly together, tying historical recovery to timeless Biblical teaching.
AA is most famous for its recovery philosophy that is embodied in a 12-step program.
Separate groups for males and females meet weekly at Beaches. As the name implies, this group focuses on the teachings of the Big Book. The format is created so that the clients run the meetings. While a Beaches counselor is present, we encourage clients to take charge managing the meetings because it empowers and teaches them how to chair a meeting. Upon discharge, Beaches clients experience a smoother transition into their own home communities because they have gained the confidence and experience to participate fully in meetings.
This group offers support in recovery from addiction using the 12-Step Program. There is no distinction between drugs or focus on a particular drug.
There is a female NA group that meets weekly at Beaches. Male clients can also attend a local NA group in the community.
These recovery meetings specifically address issues related to identifying one’s sexuality, being comfortable in one’s sexuality, coming out, family issues, acceptance, issues in society as well as helping those in the LGBT community remain sober.
Of course, no matter what unique situation you are in, Beaches Recovery has treatment options that can work for you! Your recovery can occur in way that suits you. Call Beaches today at 866.605.0532 to get your life headed in a new direction!
